We all know that Hollywood has run out of ideas. Why else would they remake old movies unnecessarily (*cough cough Overboard cough cough Willy Wonka cough cough Red Dawn*)? However, this also means that we get to see a bunch of out favorite books on the big screen! Some turn out well (Harry Potter) and some are absolutely terrible (Vampire Academy). There are a bunch of books becoming movies in 2018. Keep reading to see which ones I’m looking forward to seeing in theaters!
Movies with Release Dates
Every Day– I hadn’t heard of this book until I saw it was becoming a movie. Then I saw the trailer, and it looks so good. It’s a love story with a twist: one character wakes up as a different person every day. I feel like this book/movie will have some important messages. Comes out February 23
A Wrinkle in Time– I loved this book when I was younger. Those of you who are old enough might remember the Disney Channel version, and it was definitely lacking something. This movie looks like it will more than make up for it, and I CANNOT WAIT. Comes out March 9.
Love, Simon (Book title: Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda)- I’ve wanted to read this book for a while, simply because of the hype. Then (again) the trailer came out and I am all ready for this movie. I bought the book not too long ago, and I plan on reading it just before the movie comes out (March 16).
Ready Player One– I read this book last year, and I loved it! The book was very cinematic, and I know it will translate well on the big screen. The visuals in the trailer are amazing! I can’t wait to see it! Comes out March 30.
Where’d You Go, Bernadette– I haven’t read the book yet, but I have it ready to go whenever the movie comes out. It sounds funny, and the bookseller absolutely raved about it while she was ringing me up. There is not trailer yet, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for it. Coming out May 11.
The Darkest Minds– I’ll admit, I don’t know much about this book or the movie. The reviews I found on Goodreads were very mixed, but I’m still curious about both the book and the movie. Plus, Amandla Stenburg will be in it. Comes out September 14.
Movies with No Release Date (Yet)
Ashes in the Snow (Book Title: Between Shades of Gray)– I read this book years ago, and it was a tough book, but I loved it. It takes place in WWII-era Soviet Union, when the main character and her family are deported to Siberia and they must fight for survival.
The Hate U Give– I follow Angie Thomas on Twitter, and she spent a lot of time on set. Her set pictures make it look like the movie is going to be so accurate and I NEED IT NOW.
Dumplin’– I loved this book, and I can’t wait to see the movie! There isn’t much out about this movie, but IMDB says its in post-production and has a full cast list, so I’m hoping for an end of the year release.
Did I miss anything?
